Elessa felt a wave of calm wash over her as she meditated inside of an isolated room. It's an existance that she has become all too familiar with over the past few months, ever since she landed in Japan. Well, that and having to look over her shoulder at any given moment due to not knowing who might be watching her every move. Who might be coming for her.
Whilst she has had a few moments of relief from everything, namely being able to zoom chat her friends and family back home for Christmas, it has been this room and her meditation that has kept her sane. That has reminded her of just why she is here. Just what she must do in order to maintain her position within the cut-throat world of Izanami. What must be done to ensure she reaches where she desires to go.
She knows it is a journey. She knows that she still has a long way to go if she wishes to reach the end of the long, winding road. It was affirmed to her when she faced off against Liberty Dare. To her, it was a chance to see what makes a champion in the company. What it takes in order to stand out and become the top of the class - and it was a reality check for her. Yet she embraces it. She knew coming in that she should never expect anything to come easily. She shouldn't want it to, either.
"It's meant to be a marathon, not a sprint."
Those words float from her lips, as she remembers Alyce telling her that. Her way of making sure Elessa doesn't get too far ahead of herself and start making assumptions about where she stands. Letting out a soft breath, the woman smiles to herself, glancing around the empty room.
"I wouldn't be here if it was easy. I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I had things to learn - but I know that soon enough, my time will come. I will be able to reach for the stars and make them mine. I will be able to say that I did it."
"That I made everybody proud to know that there is somebody there for them. Somebody who is weathering the storm so that they can explode to life from their shell."
She stops, feeling her body tense up.
"No matter who might be standing in their way."
Taking another breath, she closes her eyes once more, thinking back to the encounter of the mysterious woman again 2 weeks ago. Specifically her words about 'needing to be cautious of what you do'. She knows she shouldn't be overthinking things, but cannot help but do so.
Even if she knows it may very well cost her when she steps into the ring with Seraphina.
In her eyes, it is a risk that she has to take, for whilst wrestling is important, she does not know if it means she has to sacrifice herself.
"I cannot allow myself to forget why I am here. I cannot allow them to win."
She sighs.
"I may respect Seraphina, but I know that when the bell rings, that will not matter. For winning is what matters the most, and she will do anything in her power to walk away with that."
Another deep breath, as she glances around.
"Just as I intend to. I need this win, for it may be the only way I can find the truth. I'm sorry, Seraphina - but I have no intentions of lettinh you beat me. I need this."
With that, the setting fades into darkness.
