So now that we're at deadline, I'm curious the thoughts of the process/writing/general feeling for those who participated in it?
Also first and foremost, good luck to all!
For me a few thoughts:
- I've said this a few times to a few privately, but I definitely did NOT intend to write as much as I did. I just had a clear headspace, super rare free time, and a story to tell. I don't think I'll be repeating that amount in future (but never know).
- Getting up first was a relief oddly. It let me chill and be able to do other silly things (like my stupid Bad Boy Shiro fake tweets), Stargazer, etc. through the rest of the month.
- More importantly, seeing the work of those who came behind me really inspired. I don't regret the work I put out, but seeing the hard efforts of everyone really inspired me. Especially seeing things that I went "Ah, I totally should have incorporated something like that".
- My side of the bracket felt like a murderer's row (though let me make clear everyone is talented) since I knew basically everyone on that side going in and what they could do when motivated. And they brought it. Mad respect as always to them.
- The other side of the bracket showed some great talent from the folks I don't know. I look forward to seeing how the fed goes as things shake out as there's a LOT of really solid and great talent here. Definitely an "anyone can pull it off".
- From a writing standpoint, I actually found... I won't call them "issues"... but plot points to work out for my character as time goes. I have a standoffish corporate snob, that doesn't lean well to getting along with others, but it provides an opportunity for character growth.
As mentioned earlier, seeing everyone's efforts on both sides was super inspiring. I loved the enthusiasm and definitely looking forward to seeing what else we do as time goes on!

At first, I found the bracket daunting. I wasn't confident with what I had in Aria just yet, but as I laid the RP out and starting getting ideas in my head, it was like a switch flipped in my head and I got a little bit of confidence.
Like you, I wasn't expecting to write that much. I knew I had to bring out a big boy with the amount of material to cover from Straight On and facing fifteen other people in a tournament, but it flowed and I was completely satisfied after a handful of edits and rewrites.
I think having such a murderer's row on our side of the bracket fired me up in the end. I've been very blessed in my 'career' of having faced all of the writers I admire in one place or another, and to get another crack at Drew while also turning around and seeing tons of talented writers potentially in future rounds, that left no room for error and made my writing even more important. High stakes and high profile matches are why I still get the urge to write and compete after 22 years off and on of doing this hobby.
I think it's safe to say the 15 who showed for the tournament did our absolute best and left no stone unturned, which makes it completely anyone's game in the end.

First off, it's super awesome to such great turnout for the event! Everyone who showed for the tournament brought their best, which really raises that feeling of how high stakes these matchups are going to be. It's wide open, and everyone should be proud of what they wrote.
For me, big tournaments and wide open matches, especially with such high stakes, have a tendency to intimidate me. I found that I had to avoid looking to see what people had posted while working on my RP. This helped me not pysch myself out, but even then it was quite the trip writing this cycle. Like both of you I didn't realize I had written quite as much as I ended up with. It was only when people told me that I knew just how long it was.
Having a full month to work on it was of great help too. I rewrote a couple of sections, refined some ideas and ended up with a story that I was happy with. Also realized some things about Yuna and the people around her that I hadn't noticed before. Definitely fuel for future endeavors and lore I suppose.
As I've started reading other RPs, I'm really looking forward not only to the show but the future of MGP. So much talent in one spot! Much, much respect to everyone who's brought their A Game for this event!

Like Scott (Aria) mentioned, I was not confident to start this thing off, that could be why it took me so long to write. Also, knowing who all was involved in this tournament was intimidating. Several people I've never seen before, but the vast majority I know what they're capable of, and they did not disappoint.
I felt like I've been struggling to tell a real story or fill in gaps on Chloe's past, etc. So I made that a focus and was able to pick a theme to carry throughout the entire RP. I truthfully never looked at another person's RP this whole time, with the exception of maybe seeing how long it was, etc. Going into it I knew to compete, I'd have to have both quality and quantity more than likely.
I'm slowly working on reading everyone else's work as well, it's been amazing! I never thought I would like the CAW world. I think I tried it once in the early early days of my "career". But now? This is pretty legit.
I'm really looking forward to see what Josh cooks up for us!
