It's been six months. A lot has gone down. A lot has changed. A lot more is coming down the pike. We're also on the cusp of the Five Star Mid Year Awards being revealed.
You ask me the questions today. Let's go.

What has been the biggest surprise for you so far? Obviously you're the one writing the results, but in terms of either people's efforts or certain decisions people have made about their characters?

Biggest surprise so far?Aslo, tying into that, has anything drastically changed direction wise from what you initially conceptualized? I imagine the fall of POWER RISE was one, but any others?

Which match has been your hardest to judge?
Who do you see elevating themselves to new heights in the next six months to close out 2023?
Did you expect MGP to make it six months with the concept?

actually since you were hush hush about it I'm kinda curious. and if you answered it before I got a second.
1. Was RQM always meant to be the endgoal, or was the plan MGP before hand.
2. What are your general inspirations media wise.

What has been the biggest surprise for you so far? Obviously you're the one writing the results, but in terms of either people's efforts or certain decisions people have made about their characters? I'm going to answer these as time at work allows, so everyone please be patient if I don't get to yours right away.
Biggest surprise for me has been people embracing the "cinematic" elements of MGP, primarily the opening and closing lore segments. I wasn't sure how those would be received and they weren't really ever intended to be as in-depth as they've become.
Another big surprise was how the Galaxy Princess Cup turned out. A few of the folks I thought would make it to the final four didn't make it out of the opener, one of the folks I thought probably wouldn't make it out of the opener made it to the final four. The finals themselves were slightly different than I imagined. That whole show was a rollercoaster.
I've been surprised by Chloe Storm's advancement. I've told you this in private and in previous feedback threads but I'll repeat it here: you're an incredible and imaginative writer but knowing how you felt about created feds and that you were basically doing me a favor by taking part, I figured you would coast and just do what needed to be done to stay alive. Instead, you've posted some of the best work I've ever seen you put down which led to you going deep in the GPC and then winning the KO/Sub match to earn a title shot. Chloe Storm in a big show main event for the belt was a surprise, but a welcome one.
Anya Bonecrusher was played way straighter than I imagined early on but Shawn is starting to embrace the crazier elements of the character, which is awesome.
I knew heartkillers was a good writer but I've been consistently surprised each cycle by how much I love what he's producing for us.

Biggest surprise so far?Aslo, tying into that, has anything drastically changed direction wise from what you initially conceptualized? I imagine the fall of POWER RISE was one, but any others? Answer to your first question above.
MGP has evolved into something very different from the original concept. As of Star Crossed Wonderland, we've officially strayed from the "sports based joshi puroresu" concept and headed into some sports entertainment melodrama territory. The key going forward will just be to maintain the joshi flavor while continuing to evolve.
Losing POWER RISE was a hit, yeah. When I conceived MGP, the original idea was for Tatsumaki Aoi to be Professor X and Bison Kojima to be Magneto. Unfortunately, no one cared about POWER RISE and the only handlers who joined it were folks I specifically asked out of desperation (Minako Toki, Razor Ohka) or people I forced into it because they left more than one faction option (everyone else). We lost Ohka, we lost Toki, so it had to go.
The death of POWER RISE also killed the dissention among Gaijin Assault Army storyline I had planned. Not much point in having Aria Knight fall out with the rest of the group when she got to slay her white whale almost immediately.
It also wasn't until Straight On 'til Morning, when the writing was on the wall about POWER RISE, that I decided to pivot and put all the top heel focus on Shuko MURDER-gun.

Which match has been your hardest to judge? Who do you see elevating themselves to new heights in the next six months to close out 2023? Did you expect MGP to make it six months with the concept? 1. Probably the most recent main event with Saito/Cap/Knight, though I did feel dirty forcing myself to choose a winner between HEARTKILLERS/Vex/Aoi. Storm/Nijima from this show was pretty rough, too. Star Crossed Wonderland was an exercise in masochism.
2. HEARTKILLERS, for sure. Kasey Vex is my pet project through the end of the year. I have high hopes for Elizabeth Jones, Melissa Tasman, and Chelsea Skye, too. If Wolf Fang Ayame keeps improving, they'll be solid. Shinobu Tsutsumi!
3. Not to sound arrogant but I had a feeling that the forum and the concept would draw some eyes because there's such a heavy joshi presence on e-fed twitter (they're just all in fucking ANGLED feds!!!!!) but there's just so many long tenured feds full of talented writers in created circles that I knew the bar would be high and the real challenge would be KEEPING people. We've had some ups and downs with no shows but thankfully none that have hurt us or caused any major pivots. Six months is pretty incredible and I'm honored that so many of you have stuck with me for the ride.

Do you swear or curse people who did not post RP or wait until last minute? It bothered me in previous feds because I didn't have the common sense to apply a buffer between the RP deadline and the results deadline. It doesn't bother me now, especially since I extended the buffer to 72 hours.
But yeah, before buffers, I'd be raging. Now, I don't care at all.

Who are your favorite characters to write for in results? Any characters. Not just ones controlled by handlers. I like writing condescending Caponata promos.
I really love writing Mr. Sakamochi-san, there's just so few opportunities to do so. I try to work him into at least one segment per show to make ominous threats with a sense of old man whimsy.
Shuko. Harold. Tatsumaki. I like the rare opportunities I get to use Emi Fukuhara as more than the straight woman for Harold and Chet. Kotohiki is fun.
Black Tora.
I want to make more opportunities to use the HEARTKILLERS is non-promo segments. Just so happens that every time I've needed to use them, it's been pre and post-match incidents.
Chelsea Skye, when I have her play the straight woman in the midst of Colors of Victory group segments. I also like writing Shinobu Tsutsumi and having her cut big heel promos because imagining Kaya Toribami as a big bad cracks me up.
I like writing Galaxy Defense Force as they come up against insurmountable odds.
I like writing Gaijin Assault Army because NONE of the characters match so it's always a fun challenge to make their stuff come together. I also like channeling some Bea Priestley/Jamie Hayter energy when writing Aria Knight promos.

What's your overall feeling on the various interpromotional matches? Obviously Thunderin' Terry was a big highlight this past show and @beckett has been a frequent contributor til her PC went boom. Anything else stand out for you one way or another? Being able to do stuff like interpromotional matches and host the occasional freelance wrestler was a big draw to me when it came to running a created wrestler fed. It's not an opportunity that presents itself realistically in real wrestler feds (aside from singular feds with multiple brands) because what if you want to do champion vs. champion and both feds' world champ is Roman Reigns?
I appreciate having the opportunity to work with IIW, TPW, LWA, RAZOR, and other feds, though we may have to do some wiggling around to make title challenges work since they're all intergender and we're not.
I'm really excited about the four way coming up on Confidence Inspiring Games. I specifically went out looking for handlers that have never appeared in MGP before to really shake up the RONIN Galaxy contendership and the handler of Jack Sullivan really went out of their way by getting Helena Handbasket, Synn, and Sloane Taylor involved. All very talented writers with tons of credibility and I'm excited to see what they bring to MGP for this match.

What character have you had the most difficult time writing for? No one in particular really stands out. I will say I have more issue with some of the group dynamics as every faction as at least one member that doesn't "fit," so I have to jump through some hoops to make it make sense.
Sometimes it can be difficult to find something for a freelancer to do because they DON'T have that faction dynamic to lean on or they're a one-off so I've got to determine whether it's worth finding a place to shove them on the show other than their match.

You mentioned in the past, picbases that you'd like to see. What's the current list? So, I went back and found the original list:
- Lady C - AZM - Jamie Hayter - Kouki - Gigi Dolin - Cora Jade - Billie Starkz - Marika Kobashi - Roxanne Perez - Saori Anou - Tam Nakano - Maya Yukihi - Wakana Uehara
I'd say all those still apply. You can add the following:
- Natsupoi - Bea Priestley - Mina Shirakawa - Raku - Miu Watanabe - Saki Akai - Saki Kashima - Io Shirai - Suzu Suzuki - Maika - Utami Hayashishita - Saya Kamitani
Would honestly love to have more Japanese workers in general.

actually since you were hush hush about it I'm kinda curious. and if you answered it before I got a second. 1. Was RQM always meant to be the endgoal, or was the plan MGP before hand. 2. What are your general inspirations media wise. 1. So, funny story: In the first episode's closing lore segment, I originally had the red and blue kabukis (later revealed as Yutaka and Kusaka) mention The Shrine as a wink-wink nod-nod for the few of you who were around for OG REQUIEM. The idea was for The Shrine to exist in this universe and for Devil Matsumoto to eventually be revealed as a big bad but in a more traditional sense... a physical presence, appearing on shows, etc. Somewhere between the first and second show, I decided to add some backstory to Shuko's Love Song of Violence title (which always had the RQM logos on it), so I came up with the idea that REQUIEM was her baby. This deviates from the original REQUIEM e-fed because it establishes that The Black Company and REQUIEM aren't the same entity, though they are funding it in this iteration.
The idea coming out of the first show was that The Shrine and REQUIEM would be part of the lore but nothing clear and present. While putting together the lore segments for Straight On 'til Morning, Richard Rath was conceived, the Scorpion Sisters were fleshed out (originally, they were just going to be heavies for Devil Matsumoto), and the BIG PICTURE began to show itself to me.
The plan is still MGP. For now. Maybe?
2. I think a lot of my inspirations are obvious: - Battle Royale - Squid Game - Lady Snowblood - Kill Bill - Stardom Wrestling - TJPW - Gatoh Move/ChocoPro - AJW - GAEA Japan - FMW - OZ Academy - Cube - Old Boy - Lots of random anime - Lots of random kung fu movies

What we're the original plans for Shuko Murder-gun and GAA if Power Rise had stayed to be the more heel faction when feuding with the two?
What has been your favourite MGP episode?
How did you come up with the name Miracle Galaxy Pro?

What we're the original plans for Shuko Murder-gun and GAA if Power Rise had stayed to be the more heel faction when feuding with the two? What has been your favourite MGP episode? How did you come up with the name Miracle Galaxy Pro? 1. It wasn't so much that POWER RISE were going to be THE big bads as it was that they'd be the ideological opposition to Galaxy Defense Force. POWER RISE would have ultimately been more tweener than the full-heel SMG and GAA. Original plan for GAA was to see Aria Knight continue to chase POWER RISE throughout the year while creating dissention among the GAA ranks by refusing to fall in line and target Colors of Victory. Shuko MURDER-gun were originally just going to be troublemakers in the mid-card because the initial applicants (aside from HEARTKILLERS) for that group no showed out or just weren't generally top performers. After Historic BIG BANG Evolution 2023, where we lost SAEKO and Cross to no shows, I just figured HK would run the tag division on SMG's behalf and that would be the faction's niche, but thankfully we got Tsutsumi, LUNA, and Xia Layne, which allowed the group to get some legs under them, and I had the idea to double down on REQUIEM and the Black Company which expanded Shiori Shuko's role in the lore, thus SMG became more important in the grand scheme.
2. Straight On 'til Morning holds a special place in my heart because I love the Shiori Shuko lore segments. Star Crossed Wonderland is probably my favorite top to bottom, though.
3. For a comic book project from over a decade ago, I created some Power Ranger analogues called The Miracle Galaxy 5. That name itself was inspired by The Miracle Violence Connection of Terry Gordy and Steve Williams. Then, a few years back, I wanted to fantasy book a joshi puroresu company and borrowed the Miracle Galaxy name for it, added the Pro, and the rest is history.
