REQUIEM Puroresu, Aria Knight, and 4 more like this
Post by Mark Romero on Jul 5, 2023 21:40:25 GMT
Alright, welcome back to the show. This is hour two of the Five Star Report. You can subscribe at FiveStarNews.com, follow us on Twitter @fivestarnews, and be sure to follow us on TOUT! It still exists, people.
I'm Mark Romero, @markromero5sn. Miracle Galaxy Pro has a new Interstellar Champion! The first title change in the company's six month history happened when Costanza Caponata, the overall pick to win the Galaxy Princess Cup, got her comeuppance on Aria Knight and pinned Yuna Saito, the former champion. We'll get into that and the show recap as a whole.
But first, WE HAVE BREAKING NEWS, VINNY!
Normally we segment this stuff out but with NEWS~! happening all over the place, we have Vinny and Beav in and ready to go. Let's get to it!
There's been rumblings for a while, but it was made official today. Aria Knight, the self-proclaimed "Crown Jewel" of the Gaijin Assault Army, has left Kingdom Come Wrestling, a former MGP-affiliated promotion, and is relinquishing the KCW World Championship while she's at it. While we had heard the rumors, we reached out to Aria's camp and the Proper Villainess didn't respond, but Isla Villin did.
"Aria Knight has left Kingdom Come Wrestling as of today and has relinquished the KCW World Championship. As the quest the original members of the Gaijin Assault Army are on to capture the Celestial Trinity Championships comes to fruition, Aria is focusing her full efforts to capturing those championships with her teammates. She wishes Kennedy Matthews and KCW the best in their rebranding."
That was the nicest way to quit a bad company ever.
How so, Vinny?
Kingdom has SO many issues. Aria joined KCW back in March, won both of their championships, and the website still doesn't reflect either win. The last two or three shows were some of the WORST television I've ever seen. Their pay-per-view was drug over the coals by the participants and all of Twitter for days. Kingdom is a mess and should just close its doors rather than reboot.
Dang dude. Tell us how you really feel.
Early on, MGP and its members relied on places like Kingdom and the LWA as a whole to get their name out there, but it has been proven that MGP is doing just fine on its own and doesn't need these companies that are more detrimental than helpful. That's why MGP cut their LWA association. The LWA is a dead brand and serves no real purpose other than embarrassing its member promotions' top characters who participate in their events.
You mean you don't like watching stars wrestle in a Wal-Mart?
Mark, their next show is even more embarrassing. LWA should delete it's 2001-era website and cease to exist.
Vinny is out here COMING FOR BLOOD!
Speaking of blood, Star Crossed Wonderland. Let's get to the good stuff.
Star Crossed Wonderland was a tremendous offering for MGP, but let's turn the page to what's coming up next!
I'm here for the way MGP officials determined the method to crown the first Trinity Champions. The trios division is going to be thick with contenders, as these factions have had months to work together and get to know their strengths and weaknesses. I think it could be the most competitive division in MGP as the year progresses. Black Dahlia Legacy, the Faction of the Mid-Year, looks to show their strength against the Gaijin Assault Army. We saw Kasumi Nijimi strike first on the promo board, not waiting for her teammates. Rumors are circulating that the Army will release one promo for this show and show their unity. Regardless of how this one goes, I think BDL/GAA is the feud of the year. Storm versus Caponata, the trios combinations, Njima/Storm, Aria Knight getting into the mix, and now the Valkyrie Championship win of Anya Bonecrusher flexes the GAA muscle.
Speaking of championship wins, how about this IIW Women's title situation going on? IIW was another company MGP worked closely with, seeing Junko Souma and Aria Knight work Combat while Beckett Marisol came over to Japan. Now with the shuffle of the division, we've heard that IIW has gifted MGP their Women's Championship now that Junko is the champion. With it being MGP property, could we see it defended more? Maybe it's a belt some upstart could poach and build their legacy with.
Diana Watts and Madeliene Satterfield are going to go at it for the RONIN belt. I'm feeling a title change is in the air. It should be a classic, but now that we've had our first title swap, they're going to start being addicting from here on.
Look at the freelancers! We have a lot of new names, including some big time heavy hitters, on this month's show in Japan. The growth MGP has seen from an upstart to being one of THE top tier companies in the entire world of wrestling is quite something to see. Hopefully these four tear the house down coming up and hang around for more shots after this.
Also on the show, we're going to see is Tsutsumi's reign of terror can continue. She's been stepping her game up lately, making Shuko MURDER-gun one of the most terrifying factions in all of Japan. Between her and the HEARTKILLERS, the future is bright for this group. Tsutsumi has represented the Love Song of Violence championship well and also picked up a lot of votes in the Mid-Year Awards. So she's catching everyone's attention.
This is going to be another tremendous offering from Miracle Galaxy Pro. This is Awesome Promotions previewed it and said it had to be their first show because there was no way MGP could regularly get this quality from their roster, and he's wrong! Seven shows strong, MGP just keeps getting better each and every month! They do all of the little things right, which make the big things that much more important when they happen! Now with MGP pairing with SWF, RAZOR Wrestling, and some other companies out there, the word is just going to continue to grow with evidence of MGP being unstoppable.
Thanks for that preview, Vinny. Let's go to commercial.
Alright, let's ruffle some feathers. It's time for On and Off the Mark! I'm going to mention one thing I liked and one thing I hated during the first cycle of MGP's existence. Look at the logos! They're Harry Potter!
I'm going with Costanza Caponata for On the Mark this time. The new Interstellar Dream Champion should've won the Galaxy Princess Cup, so it's good to see her right the wrongs of the past and capture the belt for herself! Going to be a dominate champion.
For Off the Mark, I'm going with Aria Knight. This is twice now that she's failed in Interstellar title matches. I think she's better off focusing on those Celestial Trinity titles while her partner, Chloe Storm, focuses on being the Crown Jewel and title-winner.
Man, I did not expect the voting method for the Mid-Year Awards to be so controversial. Like, there was some serious anger going on.
Right? Beav, I was yelled at in a public forum! I had to watch my language so I didn't hurt MGP's business. I'm just a man covering MGP and their roster out of the kindness of my heart! You guys help me out each month for this block of the show and we just wanted to do something nice for the MGP roster. Give 'em some notoriety!
There's always one.
Yeah.
I was pleased with the winners. Most of them were as I predicted. A few surprises such as Fan Favorite, but it was a good show.
Can't wait to do the final one at the end of the year and see how people can find something else to complain about then.
You even got a vote, Mark. Bunch of junk if you ask me. My mother pays for this internet than we broadcast the show with and you get a vote for Fan Favorite?!
And Kotohiki! That menace!
Anyway, I'm not trying to get canceled. The people KNOW who the best reporter is. I'm just going to have to hire the YAKZUA and take care of Miss Kotohiki myself. Is that still a thing, Vinny?
Why are you asking me? Is it because -
That's the show for today. For Beav and Vinny, I'm Mark Romero. This is the Five Star Report, part of the Five Star News Network.

I gotta' say, man, this show was WILD! Dudes, if y'all had told me all along that joshi puro-whatever had all of this mythical shit in it, I'd been watchin' for more than the hot girls.
Beav, you would not. Stop.
C'mon. Let me look like I contribute more to this show than being a comedic punchline.
Alright then, Beav. Go for it. Review Star Crossed Wonderland.
....
You there?
I'm thinking. Hang on.
Alright.
Let's see.
The main event, right? How about that. Costanza Caponata is the new Interstellar Champion. Man, I kinda' thought Yuna Saito would reign forever, but luck wasn't on her side. Aria Knight falls to 0-2 in title matches, so you have to think she's out of the running for a while herself.
Yes, because her stable-mate, Chloe Storm, became the #1 contender.
She did? Bad ass.
It was on THIS show, Beav.
Jesus. Alright, Vinny, just do your thing.
Star Crossed Wonderland really changed MGP as a whole. We went from earlier this year and MGP being a pure sport venture to now being this weird, violence, awful promotion with mystery and something about an island? Devil Matsumoto was in a chamber of sorts.. We saw photos of an island with a shrine on it. It's like MGP grabbed the steering wheel and did a complete 180 overnight. We're veering down a road that hasn't been traveled down before hand in the world of joshi puroresu. I'm beginning to even question who is in control of MGP at this point, because it sure seems like it just might be this Black Company.
Racist, Vinny.
That's the LITERAL name of the company, idiot.
Wonderland also had a lot of surprises and good things going on IN the ring where it matters. We're really seeing some of the newcomers like Elizabeth Jones, Kanna, and Azurine Vebbins mesh into the company and do some really nice things. Their futures are bright. We also got to see Thunderin' Terry. Thunder Pro Wrestling is a great promotion that works loosely with MGP, as Junko Souma spends time there.
Shinobu Tsutsumi continues being a bright spot. Her and Wolf Fang fighting for literal HOURS was incredible. I saw a show-long fight years ago in another promotion we were covering at the time and this harkens back to the brutality and chaos. I loved it.
Shout out to Madeliene Satterfield for winning the big money. Another newer MGP member really starting to shine.
Also shout out to a day one player, Anya Bonecrusher. The LWA affiliation was poor for MGP, but Bonecrusher did gather the Valkyrie Championship and it now belongs to MGP and the Gaijin Assault Army. The tougher of the OG GAA members, Bonecrusher is finding her stride and looks to take the next step in the company.
Those Celestial Trinity belts are gorgeous and I cannot wait to see MGP expand into the world of trios. It's an integral part of joshi wrestling and I really appreciate MGP taking their time to get things right. I see so many other promotions just rush to get to the good stuff and it doesn't make any sense or it's not natural. The things MGP are doing in the ring just make sense and works out for the viewer and the competitor.
I know MGP wants to make Star Crossed Wonderland one of their "big four" events and this was absolutely a tremendous offering in their goal. This show won the award for Mid-Year Show and from top to bottom, it was one of the best events I've ever spent the time watching. As I'll get into with my Confidence Inspiring Games preview, MGP just keeps getting better and better!
